Avril Lavigne released third single from her fourth studio album Goodbye Lullaby, "Wish You Were Here". Written by Lavigne with its producers Max Martin and Shellback, and produced by the latter two.

On August 9, on her official website, Avril Lavigne posted pictures from the shooting of the music video for "Wish You Were Here", saying that the video would be very raw and exposed, unlike her previous videos "What the Hell" and "Smile". It will be released on September 9, 2011. In a telephone interview with The Caprice, Avril Lavigne confirmed that the song would serve as the third and possibly last single from Goodbye Lullaby.

As you know before, from Avril Lavigne' fourth studio album Goodbye Lullaby, the first single "What the Hell", Released: 7 January 2011 and the second single "Smile", Released: 11 April 2011.

In July 2011, Avril Lavigne revealed the title of one of the songs from her fifth album as "Fine and Gone". The track was originally recorded for Goodbye Lullaby but never made the final cut.

Avril Lavigne's fifth album has been described to be released as "far earlier than imagined" and rumors it could be released in 2012, nothing however has been confirmed by Lavigne or her record label as to when the album will be released.

Avril Lavigne was furious when record label executives tried to persuade her to ditch her trademark rock roots in favor of a radio-friendly "urban" sound.

Avril Lavigne's latest album "Goodbye Lullaby" was mired in delays after RCA bosses pushed Lavigne to try out a different vibe - and she was shocked when they suggested she sing dance tracks.

Roughly two weeks before Avril Lavigne's new studio effort "Goodbye Lullaby" hits stores across US, all tracks listed in the CD is previewed in an album sampler. It begins with twinkling piano sound of ballad tune "Black Star" before moving to more upbeat songs like "Smile".

Among the previewed tracks, the stand-out ones include "Wish You Were Here" which features catchy "damn, damn, damn" hook. After snippets of three songs' acoustic versions, the album sampler ends with her shouting about not giving a damn about her "Bad Reputation" in a Joan Jett cover song. The last four songs that are previewed will be included in the deluxe package.

"Goodbye Lullaby" is coming out across the country on March 8. It's led by a pop/rock song "What the Hell" which was released on the New Year's Eve.

“Black Star,” originally a piano jingle written to promote her fragrance of the same name, launched the recording process of Avril Lavigne 's fourth studio album in November 2008. By July 2009, nine tracks had been recorded.

In January 2010, the song "Alice", written and recorded by Lavigne and produced by Butch Walker, was released as the lead single from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland soundtrack, Almost Alice.

Lavigne's fourth studio album is scheduled for release in June 2010, and the first single will be released in April. The album is expected to be a return to Lavigne's older musical style and may be largely acoustic.

Tracks on the forthcoming album include, "Everybody Hurts," "Black Star," "Fine," "Gone" and "Darlin," the latter being the second song Lavigne wrote as a 15-year-old while living in Napanee, Ontario. Avril Lavigne is one of the singers that perform the cover of the song "Wavin' Flag" by singer K'naan to raise money for Haiti (2010).

More details have emerged about the all-star Canadian benefit single for Haiti, which was recorded yesterday in Vancouver.

A representative for Fefe Dobson confirmed to MuchMusic that the singer was also at the studio session, and that Drake, Justin Bieber and Avril Lavigne also contributed parts to the song remotely.

The song’s producer, Canadian Bob Ezrin (who has worked with 30 Seconds To Mars, Pink Floyd, KISS) was also quoted commenting on the song, saying, “K’Naan’s lyrics in Wavin’ Flag embody the pain, passion and determination of the Haitian people and lend the hope of a brighter future. The response from the artists has been sensational, and I am so proud that together we may help to make a difference.”

Reportedly, the song will benefit Free The Children, War Child Canada and World Vision.

Avril Lavigne On May 25, 2007, songwriters James Gangwer and Tommy Dunbar sued Avril Lavigne, Avril LAvigne 's co-songwriter Lukasz Gottwald, Almo Music, and RCA Records, claiming that "Girlfriend" contains lyrics plagiarized from their song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", originally performed by The Rubinoos and released by Beserkley Records in 1978.

In January 2008, following a confidential settlement, Dunbar and Gangwer said in a statement that they "are satisfied that any similarities between the two songs resulted from Avril Lavigne and Luke's use of certain common and widely used lyrics". They completely exonerated Avril Lavigne and Luke "from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made by us in our lawsuit".

In June 2007, Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, with whom Avril Lavigne co-wrote the majority of her 2nd album, Under My Skin, spoke to Performing Songwriter magazine about Lavigne's songwriting ability and ethics. Kreviazuk claimed that the song "Contagious", which appears on The Best Damn Thing, was based on a track she had sent to Lavigne in 2005.

On July 6, 2007, Avril Lavigne denied both accusations in an open letter on her website, admitting that she had "never heard the [Rubinoos] song in [her] life" and also threatening legal action against Kreviazuk for her allegations, which She considers "damaging" to her reputation and a "clear defamation" of her character.
